Tom Justin has been a principal of The Weitzman Group Inc. for over 25 years. His areas of expertise include real estate market analysis, development planning, investment analysis, appraisal and real estate economics. Over the course of his career, Mr. Justin participated in several notable engagements to include the marketability analysis of the proposed Mall of America and Camp Snoopy in Minneapolis, the adaptive re-use potential of the St. Louis Union Station, and more recent involvement in the market and feasibility of the final phase of Queens West, one of the largest proposed urban mixed-use residential and commercial development initiatives in the United States located on the East River in the Borough of Queens, New York City. In addition to his work in the United States, Mr. Justin has provided real estate advisory services to the governments of China, Bulgaria, and Poland as well as to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Mr. Justin oversees the firm’s portfolio valuation engagements and actively participates in consulting assignments throughout the United States.
Mr. Justin is a designated member of the Counselors of Real Estate and he is a member of association’s Board of Directors. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holds the FRICS designation. Mr. Justin is the chairman of the RICS Americas, one of the five world regions comprising this global property organization that has approximately 145,000 members worldwide; he is a member of the organization’s Governing Council, the body that sets the strategic direction for the organization.
Mr. Justin is a member of the Urban Land Institute and he is the moderator of ULI’s Annual Economic Forecast Forum held in January of each year in New York; notable speakers on the panel have included respected real estate economists such as Dr. Mark Zandi and Dr. Sam Chandan as well as Robert White, president and founder of Real Capital Analytics. The forum is one of the most highly attended meetings of real estate professionals in the New York metropolitan area.
Mr. Justin is an adjunct professor of real estate at the Schack Institute of Real Estate at New York University; he teaches a graduate course titled Market and Feasibility Analysis for Real Estate Investment and is the recipient of the University’s Excellence In Teaching award. Mr. Justin is also a guest lecturer at Columbia University’s graduate real estate program.
